The Five Steps For Removing Lipstick From Your Clothes

How many times have you had to throw out your favorite shirt because of a lipstick stain? Well, fear no more. Check out these five easy steps to remove that stain from your blouse.

1: REMOVE WHAT YOU CAN

To begin, take off the lipstick that you can see. You can do this by using a small, blunt object like a butter knife. Lightly scrape the product from the fabric to prevent it from expanding over more of the garment in the next few steps!

2: DAB IT WITH RUBBING ALCOHOL

Isopropyl alcohol’s chemical make-up makes it great for removing things like lipstick from clothing. Use a cotton swab or cotton ball to blot the stain before you rinse it thoroughly with cold water.

The method is very important. Don’t rub this, as it can smear the product further into the fibers! Also, be sure that you test this method on a less noticeable part of the garment to be sure it won’t ruin it.

3: USE A QUALITY STAIN REMOVER

Find a great stain remover and get to work on removing your lipstick from the fabric. Make sure you use an appropriate remover for your fabric. For example, don’t use a bleach stain remover on colored clothing.

4: SEND IT THROUGH THE WASH

After you’ve completed these steps, use some liquid laundry detergent! Add the garment to warm, not hot, water and work the laundry detergent in to the fabric gently. Don’t wash until the stain is gone!

5: IF THAT DOESN’T WORK, USE HAIRSPRAY

Hairspray’s chemicals can work with your stain to remove particles from the fibers of your garment. Spray some on to the stain and wait 10 to 15 minutes before you massage away the hairspray with a dame, warm cloth.
