We’re weeks away from the final season of Game of Thrones, one of the most popular TV shows of our lifetime. While waiting, we can keep your mind occupied with some GOT trivia.
If you still haven’t seen audition tapes of your favorite Game of Thrones actors and actresses, now it’s the right time.
Maisie Williams & Sophie Turner (Arya & Sansa)
The first season of Game of Thrones was released in 2011, but the production started earlier. And the casting happened even earlier.
When her audition tape was made, Maisie Williams a.k.a. Arya Stark wasn’t even in her teens. Think you’ll be able to recognize her?
Sophie Turner, who you know better as Sansa Stark, has changed quite a lot. If you didn’t know she’s the one in the tape, I bet you wouldn’t be able to figure out it’s her.
And here’s a bonus trivia for you: the age of Sophie Turner in the audition tape is approximately the same as the age at which Sansa Stark marries Ramsay Bolton in “A Song of Ice and Fire”.
Gross, right? HBO producers thought the same, which is why they did the wedding (and the infamous wedding night scene) in the 5th series, when the actress was eighteen.
Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo)
Have you heard of movies “Johnson Family Vacation” and “Pipeline”? Well, not many did either. But, those were the movies in which Jason Momoa played before getting a part in Game of Thrones.
The obvious question is how did a virtually unknown actor land the role of Khal Drogo? By doing an intimidating Haka dance on audition, of course. Keep that in mind when going to your next job interview.
Jack Gleeson (Joffrey Baratheon)
Do you need to be an annoying brat to land a part of an annoying brat? No, you just need to be an amazing actor. Jack Gleeson’s audition tape shows why he’s the perfect choice for the role of Joffrey Baratheon.
Rory McCann (Sandor Clegane a.k.a. the Hound)
Take a look at his audition tape and see that Rory McCann has always been the dream choice for the role of the Hound. Not only does he plays his character well, but the Scottish actor is perfect for this role because he’s really tall. Rory McCann is 6’6 tall.
Kit Harington (John Snow)
Instead of looking for the audition tape of Kit Harington for the role of John Snow, I have a much better suggestion for you. Listen to what the actor has to say about his experiences with the audition process. He explained it in detail on Absolute Radio.
Or you could watch this hilarious “Kit Harington’s Never-Before-Seen Game of Thrones Audition” on Jimmy Kimmel’s show.
How did Emilia Clarke become the Mother of Dragons? Watch her tell the story about her GOT audition on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
