A number of Apple product users reported a bug allowing people to hear and see the person they are calling before that person even answers the phone. This bug affected iOS 12.1 and Mac devices running Mojave OS.
Apple said that it’s working on a fix, which should be available later this week. Meanwhile, the best course of actions for users is to disable FaceTime completely to prevent further issues.
To turn off FaceTime on iPhone or iPad:
- Open Settings
- Scroll down and select FaceTime
- Toggle off the green button at the very top
To turn off FaceTime on a Mac device:
- Open the FaceTime app
- Click on FaceTime on the top left corner of the screen
- Click “Turn FaceTime Off“
When Apple rolls out a new update to fix this bug, you can install the updates and turn FaceTime back on again.
