How to Find the Best Dog Shampoo for Your Puppy

A dog, they say is man’s best friend. This implies that the average dog owner can share a lot with their dog. While there is nothing wrong with this, you can’t share absolutely everything with your dog. While it is okay to share your living space and sometimes your toys with your dog, there is one thing in particular that you should not share with your dog. That thing is your shampoo. Although this seems a little strange because shampoos are meant to keep the hair in its best condition, humans and dogs should not make use of the same shampoo. The simple reason for this is; shampoos that are designed for human consumption contain some chemicals that your dog’s sensitive skin cannot handle.

Amazingly, your puppy does not have to make use of your shampoo as there are lots of dog shampoo brands and other products for grooming your pets, which are perfectly suitable to meet the need of your dog.

While it is not a secret the many things a dog shampoo can do for your dog, when it comes to the use of dog shampoos, it will be very unsafe to assume that shampoo will be good for your dog because it appears okay for another dog. If you select the wrong shampoo for your dog, your dog could suffer from quite a number of adverse effects which might even surpass the benefits it will get from the use of a shampoo. On the other hand, if you choose the exact right shampoo for your dog, it will always have a beautiful and bright coat even long after you bathe it.

There are some factors you have to consider knowing the right shampoo for your dog. Some of these factors are

Youth

There is an ideal shampoo for dogs of all ages. As a dog owner, one of the worst mistakes you can make while choosing a shampoo for your puppy is to select a shampoo that was manufactured for much older dogs. The ideal shampoos for puppies have a reputation for being tender. Also, they are made with a formula that does not cause any irritations to the puppy.

Skin Condition

The skin condition of your puppy at the time you are purchasing a shampoo is a major factor to consider. Whatever shampoo you buy has to complement your dog’s skin condition. If your puppy’s skin is itchy flaky, or dry, the best shampoo for it is moisturizing. When treating a puppy with flaky skin, make sure you do not buy a shampoo that has a scent as such shampoos have chemicals that can cause irritations to your puppy. It is better to buy shampoos that come with natural ingredients like vitamin E, honey, and oatmeal.

Odor

When left alone, dogs can spend a fairly long time in substances with bad smells. If you have a dog that seems to be in love with adventures, you should get a deodorizing shampoo. With this type of shampoo, unpleasant odors can be removed.
