When someone suffers from a back pain they’d usually either go to a doctor or get over-the-counter medications first. But not this 33-year-old Irish man, who invented his own “cure”.
According to a report from the Irish Medical Journal, a man complained to his doctor about a severe lower back pain. He reported it was due to lifting heavy objects recently. Although, the gentleman had a history of choric back pain.
During his checkup, the doctor inquired about a red swelling on the patient’s forearm. The man admitted he’d been injecting his own semen into his arm as an “innovative treatment”. He he’d been doing so every month for about 18 months using a hypodermic needle he purchased online.
An x-ray showed an area of trapped air where he injected his semen. Doctors hospitalized and treated the patient with an intravenous antimicrobial therapy. But once his back pain improved, the man left without getting the infected area on this arm drained.
This was the first reported case of semen injection for a medical treatment. Doctors discouraged people from such type of self-treatment that could lead to dangerous consequences.
